ROWE RACING takes on the challenge of the FIA GT World Cup in Macau at the end of the season

Debut for the team, driver Nick Catsburg and the BMW M6 GT3 on the legendary street circuit / Strong competition in the Chinese gambler’s paradise

Another very special highlight is in store for ROWE RACING at the end of their first season with BMW Motorsport: The team from St. Ingbert will be flying the BMW colours at the FIA GT World Cup from 17th to 20th November and take part in the renowned GT race in the former colony on the south coast of China for the first time ever. Dutchman Nick Catsburg, who is also making his debut on the notorious street circuit in Asia’s gambler’s paradise, will be in the cockpit of ROWE RACING’s BMW M6 GT3 with #9.

ROWE RACING and Catsburg not only have to adjust to the special climate conditions in Macau and the very narrow and uneven 6.2-kilometre track, which doesn’t have many overtaking opportunities. They will also face strong manufacturer competition and some renowned drivers in the urban canyons. The official entry list published today consists of 24 competitors, including reigning champion Maro Engel, this year’s winner of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, DTM driver Edoardo Mortara from Italy and New Zealander Earl Bamber, 2015 winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The legendary GT race in Macau was upgraded significantly last year, and the international automobile association appointed it the official FIA World Cup. “ I’m really looking forward to the FIA GT World Cup in Macau. ROWE Racing is represented by a strong overall package of the BMW M6 GT3 and Nicky Catsburg as the driver. We have very fond memories of this street circuit. BMW Motorsport has celebrated many major wins there in the past. Without a doubt, Macau is a worthy venue to bring the successful debut season that we have experienced with the BMW M6 GT3 to a close,“ said BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt. In addition to the GT race, the famous Macau GP for Formula 3 cars will also be held in Macau.

Nick Catsburg: „The FIA World Cup GT race in Macau is a race we all want to participate in, I am very happy to be the lucky one to go to Macau. I have never raced on this circuit before and this will make an already difficult race even harder. I will try to get to know the track using a simulator. I would like to thank BMW Motorsport and ROWE RACING for giving me this awesome opportunity.“

Hans-Peter Naundorf, team boss ROWE RACING: „The start in Macau will be a great adventure for us all. It is the first time that ROWE RACING will compete in this legendary race and fly half way around the world for a race. We’re all excited to see what awaits us and I don’t need to motivate anyone for this race. Being allowed to represent BMW Motorsport at this race as a new BMW team with a new car and after the successes of this season is a real highlight and an extremely exceptional end to a special year.“
